Taking the 600,000 tonne/year SM plant off line earlier than schedule is still being reviewed, and no specific shutdown dates have been set, the source said.
“We could be moving the shutdown to the month of September and completing the exercise by the middle of October, although this has not been set,” the company source said.
FCFC had originally set the plant’s turnaround in October to mid-November.
The company also operates a 250,000 tonne/year No 1 and 350,000 tonne/year No 2 SM plants in Mailiao.
The other two SM producers in Taiwan are Grand Pacific Petrochemical Corp and Taiwan Styrene Monomer Corp.
