SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Fujian Refining & Petrochemical (FREP) plans to shut its 120,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) unit in Fujian province on 25 July for five days of scheduled maintenance, a source close to the company said on Thursday.

During this turnaround, the company will raise the operating rates for its two other PP units at the same site and run them at full capacity.

The 330,000 tonne/year PP unit and 220,000 tonne/year PP unit are currently operating at 65% and 90% respectively due to a lack of propylene supply, the source said.

The shutdown of FREP’s 120,000 tonne/year PP unit is not expected to have any significant impact on the market because of its small capacity and the short offline duration, a trader in southern China said.
