HOUSTON (ICIS)--Brazil's foreign trade commission (Camex) on Friday said it has temporarily reduced tariffs on imports of polycarbonate (PC) and caprolactam due to shortages in domestic supply.

PC tariffs were reduced to 2% form 14% for one year for a quota of 35,040 tonnes. PC is used in the production of automotive headlights, plates and water metres.

Caprolactam tariffs were lowered to 2% from 12% through 28 April 2015 for a quota of 32,000 tonnes. Caprolactam is used in the production of fibres such as nylon.

Camex from time to time reduces tariffs when supplies of chemicals are deemed too short for domestic needs.
