SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Shandong Haili Chemical Industry’s 130,000 tonne/year epichlorohydrin (ECH) plant at Yancheng is currently shut because of technical problems at an upstream caustic soda unit, a company source said on Tuesday.
The ECH plant in Jiangsu province was taken off line on 25 July, the source said,
The plant gets its supply of feedstock chlorine from the caustic soda unit, the source said.
Details on the duration of the shutdown could not be confirmed.
At Zibo in Shandong province, the company has four ECH lines, each with 80,000 tonne/year capacity, two of which are running at full capacity, while the other two are not operating, a separate company source said.
Shandong Haili Chemical Industry is the largest ECH producer in Asia. It uses propylene as feedstock for ECH production.
