SINGAPORE (ICIS)--India has imposed a provisional anti-dumping duties (ADDs) on imports of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) from China, South Korea, Thailand and EU, effective 25 July, industry sources said on Tuesday.

The duties ranging from $19.05-117.09/tonne – depending on import origin – will be levied for a period not exceeding six months, according to a notification from India’s Ministry of Finance. (Please see table below)

Domestic downstream polyester makers in India are likely to face higher production costs because of the provisional ADD on imports, and attempt to pass this down end-markets, industry sources said.

But this will highly depend on supply-demand conditions in the polyester sectors as well, they said.
