SINGAPORE (ICIS)–China’s Fujian Refining & Petrochemical (FREP) is running its 120,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) line at 50% of capacity, after restarting the unit on 29 July, a company source said on Wednesday.

The plant in Fujian province that had a few days of maintenance is currently producing PP raffia yarn, the source said.

FREP also has a 220,000 tonne/year PP unit at the site that is operating at 30% of capacity.

Production at this unit was cut from 100% over the weekend, ahead of a planned brief shutdown to resolve some technical issues at the plant, the source said.

The plant will be taken off line for two to three days, the source said, without specifying the exact shutdown dates.

Meanwhile, the company’s 330,000tonne/year PP unit at the site is currently running at full capacity, and is producing PP injection, the source said.
