Saudi Sipchem starts trial runs at new Jubail EVA/LDPE swing plant

EVA goes into the making of solar panelsSINGAPORE (ICIS)–Saudi International Petrochemical Co (Sipchem) has started trial runs at its new ethylene vinyl acetate/low density polyethylene (EVA/LDPE) swing plant in Jubail, the company said over the weekend.

Test runs at the 200,000 tonne/year plant began on 26 July, Sipchem said in a disclosure to the Saudi Stock Exchange on Sunday.

The plant, which cost about Saudi riyal (SR) 3bn to build, is owned by International Polymers Co –which is 75%-owned by Sipchem, with the remaining 25% held by South Korean producer Hanwha Chemical.
