HOUSTON (ICIS) -- BASF is seeking a US price increase on oxo-alcohols, effective 15 August, a source at the company said on Tuesday.
BASF is seeking a 5-cent/lb increase on n-butanol (NBA) and a 6-cent/lb increase on 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH).
A number of other producers, including Oxea, Eastman Chemical, Dow Chemical and Sasol were separately seeking 4-cent/lb increases on NBA effective 1 August. BASF is one of two current US producers of 2-EH, alongside Eastman Chemical.
A maintenance turnaround at BASF’s oxo-alcohol facility in Freeport, Texas, was recently completed. Production capacities at the site are 240,000 tonnes/year of NBA and 160,000 tonnes/year of 2-EH.
