Chinese sulphur imports up in July, but down in Jan-July

LONDON (ICIS)--Sulphur imports into China were 65% higher in July year on year, but in the first seven months of 2014 imports were 8% lower year on year, according to the latest data from China Customs this week.

In January-July, sulphur imports totalled 5.96m tonnes compared to 6.48m tonnes in the same period of 2013. The main supplier was Saudi Arabia with 1.28m tonnes, up 37% from 2013. Imports from other Middle East suppliers and Canada showed a marked decrease.

In July 2014 imports were 1.07m tonnes, up from 537,098 tonnes in June, an increase of 65% over the 646,506 tonnes imported in July 2013.
