S Korea’s exports of benzene surges by 66% in July – KITA

SINGAPORE (ICIS)–South Korea’s exports of benzene surged by 66% year on year to 169,453 tonnes in July this year, while other aromatics shipments abroad were mixed, industry data showed on Wednesday.

The country’s exports of toluene fell by 66% year on year to 30,341 tonnes in July (please see table below), while shipments of paraxylene (PX) was up by 10% at 317,559 tonnes, according to the Korea International Trade Association (KITA).

Exports of mixed xylenes fell by 34% year on year to 24,257 tonnes while shipments of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) was down 19% at 217,707 tonnes.
