SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Indian major Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) will take its aromatics plant in Hazira offline from end September for a scheduled turnaround, sources close to the company said on Thursday.

This shutdown is in line with its upstream cracker, they added.

The affected plant, which has a nameplate capacity of 210,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 100,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 120,000 tonnes/year of solvent xylene (SX), is currently operating at 100%, a company source said.

“There is no extra benzene spot availability heard for exports,” a trader based in Singapore said.

Some Indian traders were hopeful that the toluene supply will tighten during this turnaround period, supporting the domestic price level.

Spot Indian domestic prices have been largely hovering at rupee (Rs) 78.00-79.00/kg ex-tank for the past two weeks, according to ICIS.
