SINGAPORE(ICIS)--China’s Tianjin Bohai Chemical Industry Group on 30 August shut its 600,000 tonne/year propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant and some downstream units at its Tianjin complex unexpectedly, a company source said on Monday.

The shutdown of the unit, which was caused by a power outage following a lightning strike, may last for up to a week, the source added.

The company’s downstream affiliate Tianjin Soda also halted operations at its 170,000 tonne/year n-butyl alcohol plant, 80,000 tonne/year iso-butyl alcohol plant and 250,000 tonne/year 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) plant on 30 August. However, they are expected to restart today, another company source said.
