LONDON (ICIS)--Borealis has completed the acquisition of DuPont’s stake in Speciality Polymers Antwerp joint venture for an undisclosed amount, the Austria-headquartered polyolefins producer said on Monday.
Speciality Polymers Antwerp NV is based in Zwijndrecht (Antwerp, Belgium). The enterprise was a joint venture between DuPont Holding Netherlands BV (67%), Borealis Polymers NV and Borealis Kallo NV (together 33%).
After Borealis’ acquisition, announced on 7 August, DuPont will continue to serve the market with ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and acrylate copolymers, while Borealis will supply DuPont with EVA and acrylate copolymers from the Speciality Polymers Antwerp facility.
"Acrylate copolymers, which are part of a broader portfolio of specialty polymers produced at Speciality Polymers Antwerp, are an important building block for our value-added products sold into our core Energy & Infrastructure market," said Mark Garrett, Borealis’ CEO.
