ExxonMobil resumes ops at Singapore units after power outage

SINGAPORE (ICIS)–ExxonMobil has resumed normal operations at the units in Singapore that were shut by a recent power outage at the manufacturing site, a company spokesperson said on Tuesday.

“The units that were impacted by the September 10 power outage have since resumed normal operations,” the spokesperson said in an e-mailed statement.

On 15 September, ExxonMobil had said that it experienced flaring at its refinery and chemical plant on Jurong Island but did not did not elaborate on which units have been affected.

The company’s integrated refinery in Singapore includes the Jurong Aromatics Plant, which produces 420,000 tonnes/year of paraxylene (PX); 330,000 tonnes/year of benzene; 206,000 tonnes/year of orthoxylene (OX); and 242,000 tonnes/year of toluene.

The Singapore Chemical Plant (SCP) on Jurong Island is ExxonMobil Chemical’s largest integrated petrochemical complex in the world with 1.9m tonnes/year of ethylene capacity, according to the company’s website.
