HOUSTON (ICIS)–The US May cyclohexane (CX) contract was assessed higher by an average of 7% higher than the previous month on Monday, tracking increases in feedstock benzene.
US CX settled at $2.92/gal FOB (free on board), following a $2.84/gal settlement for US May benzene.
The monthly US CX contract price is formula-based and mostly produced for internal use, so therefore not actively traded. Downstream uses include caprolactam and adipic acid, which are feedstock for nylon 6 and nylon 6,6, respectively.
US cyclohexane producers include Phillips 66, Chevron
Phillips Chemical (CPChem), ExxonMobil, Citgo and Flint Hills
Resources.
