MOSCOW (MRC)–Negotiations on European polyvinyl chloride (PVC) prices for February delivery into the CIS markets began last week with all producers announcing a further decrease in export pricing, according to an ICIS-MRC Price Report on Friday.

The European contract price of ethylene for February delivery was agreed down by €70/tonne from the January level, which reduces the production cost of PVC by about €35/tonne.

Under the pressure of the continuing downward price trend in the ethylene market, European producers have decreased export PVC prices. Resin prices dropped by €20-30/tonne.

Negotiations on February deliveries of suspension polyvinyl chloride (SPVC) for the CIS markets this week were done in the range of €690-730/tonne FCA, while the January deals were done in the range of €710-760/tonne FCA.

Supply of the resin from European producers is sufficient, there was no restrictions on the supply.
