India January vehicle output falls 1.34% on year; sales grow 3.03%

SINGAPORE (ICIS)–India produced 1.95m vehicles in January, down by 1.34% from the same period a year earlier, according to the statistics released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Friday.
Two-wheelers accounted for 78.4%. or 1.53m units, of the total vehicle output for the month.
Domestic sales of the vehicles increased by 3.03% year on year to 1.70m units in January, with exports up 3.80% at 276,517 units, it said.
Meanwhile, production of passenger vehicles in January stood at 281,831 units, down by 1.87% from the previous corresponding period, the industry data showed.
