Asia PBR prices to rise in May on demand and BD costs

SINGAPORE (ICIS)–Asian polybutadiene rubber (PBR) prices may face more upside pressure in May due to rising feedstock butadiene (BD) prices and increased demand, market sources said.

Spot offers for fresh May shipments rose to $1,500-1,600/tonne CFR (cost & freight) southeast (SE) Asia for the high-cis grade, market sources said.

“We have to increase offers for May as demand has improved and feedstock butadiene costs have also risen,” a northeast Asian PBR producer said.

High-cis PBR prices were at $1,450-1,500/tonne CFR SE Asia on 28 April, ICIS data showed.
