Kaustik Volgograd restarting PVC production following maintenance

MOSCOW (MRC)–Kaustik (Volgograd), a subsidiary of Nikokhim group, is restarting its polyvinyl chloride (PVC) production following scheduled maintenance works, according to company sources.

The producer began the process of resuming PVC production on 6 June after the scheduled turnaround which began on 16 May.

Kaustik, which has an annual production capacity of  90,000 tonnes, aims to begin shipping PVC to its customers by the end of this week.

This is the first scheduled maintenance works by Russian PVC producers. The next turnaround will take place at RusVinyl in September.

Bashkir Soda Company (BSC) has no plans to stop for scheduled maintenance works this year.

Kaustik (Volgograd) showed a slight decrease in production in April, with final suspension PVC (SPVC) output slightly more than 7,600 tonnes, compared with 7,900 tonnes in March.

Total SPVC production at the plant exceeded 31,400 tonnes in January-April 2016, down 1% year on year.

Nikokhim Group companies – one of the leaders in the Russian chemical industry – has its main production assets located in the southern industrial hub of Volgograd.

The holding company includes: JSC “Kaustik”, the principal plant of the business group manufacturing basic products such as caustic soda, chloroparaffins, synthetic hydrochloric acid, chlorine trademark, PVC and sodium hypochlorite; CJSC “NikoMag”, which produces anti-icing materials, magnesium chloride, magnesium oxide and hydroxide; Ltd. “Zirax”, which is involved in the production of high-purity reagents for various industries and; “Poligran” which produces plastic compounds and rigid PVC compounds.
