SINGAPORE (ICIS)–Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) is currently operating its 1m tonne/year cracker in Map Ta Phut at 67%, a company source said on Monday.

The plant attained on-spec production on 17 June after operations resumed on 14 June following an outage.

The unit was shut on 17 May because the cracker’s furnace coils were damaged by a power outage and thermal shock within the coil, the company said in a filing to the Stock Exchange of Thailand on 13 June.

The source added they plan to increase the cracker run rates to full capacity in August.

“We will maintain the operating rates at 67% until August as we need to wait for the spare part which will arrive around August or maybe earlier,” the official said.
