Russia’s PP production rises 7% in January-May

MOSCOW (MRC)–Production of polypropylene (PP) in Russia increased to 602,900 tonnes in the first five months of 2016, up 7% year on year, with the largest increases registered at firms Tobolsk-Polymer and Neftekhimiya (Kapotnya), according to MRC ScanPlast.

May PP production in the country increased to 123,200 tonnes, compared with 118,300 tonnes in April.

All Russian producers decreased production rates apart from Stavrolen and Neftekhimiya.

Total PP production in Russia reached 602,900 tonnes in the first five months of the year, compared with 563,400 tonnes in the same period of 2015.

The growth in output showed all companies except Ufaorgsintez and Tomskneftekhim with the largest increase in production occurred for Tobolsk-Polymer and Neftekhimiya.

The largest producer of PP in Russia, SIBUR’s Tobolsk-Polymer, produced in May about 44,300 tonnes against 43,800 tonnes a month earlier.

Tobolsk-Polymer’s PP production reached 217,500 tonnes in the first five months of the year, compared with 184,400 tonnes year on year.

Poliom (Titan Group) produced about 18,600 tonnes of PP in May, compared with 16,700 tonnes in April. Total PP production at the plant over the reported period exceeded 84,300 tonnes, compared with 82,300 tonnes in May 2015.

Nizhnekamskneftekhim increased PP production to 18,900 tonnes in May against 17,800 tonnes in April. Total PP output was about 91,300 tonnes in January-May 2016, compared to 90,600 tonnes in the same period a year earlier.

Tomskneftekhim in May produced slightly more than 12,200 tonnes of polypropylene, while in April PP output slightly exceeded 9,600 tonnes.

The producer’s PP production over the five months of the year was 57,500 tonnes, down 4% in the same time a year earlier.

Stavrolen (LUKOIL) last month decreased capacity utilisation because of the short scheduled maintenance works at olefin production; total polypropylene production had fallen to 8,700 tonnes against 9,600 tonnes in April.

PP production at Stavrolen was 47,500 tonnes in the first five months of the year, compared with 47,200 tonnes in the same time a year earlier.

Neftekhimiya (Kapotnya) last month produced about 9,700 tonnes of PP, compared with 10,400 tonnes in April. The producer’s PP output in the first five months of the year exceeded 52,900 tonnes, up 14% year on year.

Ufaorgsintez last month kept the April capacity utilisation, the final output was approximately 10,900 tonnes. The producer’s PP output decreased to 51,800 tonnes in January-May 2016 compared with 52,900 tonnes year on year.
