HOUSTON (ICIS)–The spread between US spot styrene and upstream US spot benzene narrowed as benzene prices climbed and styrene prices fell, ICIS analysis showed on Monday.

The spread between the two products for the week ended 24 June was 13.04 cents/lb, more than 2 cents/lb narrower than 15.32 cents/lb the prior week.

The spread had widened earlier in the year on strong demand for US spot styrene exports to its widest point in mid-March at 20.33 cents/lb. As that demand has waned, the spread has narrowed gradually until the June when the spread narrowed sharply.
