PE imports into Belarus up 13% in January-April

MOSCOW (MRC)–Overall imports of polyethylene (PE) into the Republic of Belarus increased in the first four months of 2016 by 13.1% year on year totalling 35,800 tonnes, according to MRC DataScope report.

According to the National Statistics Bureau of Belarus, PE imports into Belarus in April rose to 11,400 tonnes influenced by the seasonal factor, compared to 11,000 tonnes in March, when imports of both high density polyethylene (HDPE) and low density polyethylene (LDPE) increased. 

Overall PE imports grew to 35,800 tonnes from January to April 2016, up from 31,700 tonnes in the same four-month period of 2015.

The structure of PE imports to Belarus by grades looked the following way over the stated period.

April’s total imports of LDPE and linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) rose to 7,800 tonnes, up from 7,500 tonnes in March.

LDPE from Azerbaijan accounted for the main increase in April shipments.

Overall imports of these PE grades to Belarus exceeded 23,300 tonnes in the first four months of the year, compared to 20,700 tonnes a year earlier.

April HDPE imports grew to 3,600 tonnes from 3,500 tonnes a month earlier. HDPE imports totalled about 12,500 tonnes over the stated period, up by 13.3% year on year.
