MOSCOW (MRC)–Imports of unmixed polyvinyl chloride
(PVC) into Kazakhstan exceeded 16,100 tonnes in January-May
2016, up 24% year on
year, according to MRC analysts.
May imports of unmixed PVC into the
country slightly decreased to 5,300 tonnes, compared with
5,900 tonnes in April.
Total PVC imports into Kazakhstan grew 16,100 tonnes in
the first five months of the year, compared with 13,000
tonnes in the same period of
2016.
Such a significant increase in PVC imports into Kazakhstan
was a result of active re-imports of the resin into Russia by
the local companies.
Russian SayanskKhimPlast, the second largest PVC
producer in the country, declared force majeure on PVC
delivery and the local market has experienced a significant
lack of supply.
Kazakh converters reported a seasonal increase in demand for
PVC in the local market.
The main suppliers of PVC in the local market were producers from China, with their share more than 99% from the total PVC imports into the country.
