EU June new commercial vehicle registrations up 13.3% year on year

LONDON (ICIS)–EU commercial vehicle registrations increased by 13.3% year on year in June, marking the 18th consecutive monthly rise, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) said on Thursday.

Total new registrations in the bloc amounted to 223,519 units, according to the ACEA.

“Growth was sustained in all major markets, with Italy (+29.9%), Spain (+14.5%), Germany (+11.3%), France (+11.1%) and the UK (+2.8%) posting growth.”

In the first half of 2016 new registrations grew by 13.5%, totalling 1,170,263 commercial vehicles, the ACEA said.

“During the same period, Italy (+30.8%), Spain (+14.0%), France (+12.7%), Germany (+10.4%) and the UK (+3.6%) all posted growth.”

Registrations of vans, heavy commercial vehicles over 16 tonnes, medium and heavy commercial vehicles over 3.5 tonnes all increased in June, while new bus and coach registrations fell 4.8% year on year.

All vehicle categories saw an increase in new registrations in the first half of the year.
