HOUSTON (ICIS)–The US ethylbenzene range on Friday was lower, tracking declines in upstream benzene and downstream styrene prices.

US ethylbenzene is produced mainly for the manufacture of styrene, and most of it is used captively. ICIS assesses ethylbenzene prices on a formula based on ethylene and benzene prices, with a styrene component.

US ethylbenzene was assessed at 32.39-36.00 cents/lb on Friday, compared with 32.50-36.75 cents/lb a week ago.

Major ethylbenzene producers in the US include Cosmar-Total/Carville, LyondellBasell, Chevron Phillips Chemical, Dow Chemical and Westlake.
