Russia’s PET output rises 6% in January-September

MOSCOW (MRC)–Russia’s production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) increased to 400,000 tonnes in January-September 2016, up by 6% year on year, according to MRC ScanPlast.

Production volumes increased on the back of bigger PET chips output of Alco-Naphtha.

The company has gained production rates this year and increased domestic supplies in Russia as well as overseas.

The producer’s PET production increased to 121,300 tonnes in the first nine months of this year, up 10% year on year.

At the same time, Russia’s PET production in September decreased to 31,670 tonnes compared to the August’s level.

The decline in production was a result of shutdown at Polief for scheduled maintenances, which were finished at the end of September.

 At the same time other producers decreased PET production in September compared with the August level.

The total PET production at Polief reached 156,800 tonnes in the first nine months of 2016.

October PET production in Russia will also be lower too compared with the peak output in the summer.

Alco-Naphtha, based in Kaliningrad, shut its production capacities for maintenance works.
