Win an iPad: LANXESS Fuel Saving App competition

LANXESS and ICIS are marking the launch of the free Fuel Saving App with the chance to win an Apple iPad.

From 1 November 2012, new European legislation highlights the performance of new tyres and encourages road users to be more efficient. The labelling will be compulsory across the EU, ranking their fuel efficiency, wet grip and external rolling noise.

Choosing the right tyre can save both fuel and money so German specialty chemicals company LANXESS has unveiled its free App to help. Now you can calculate how much you can save, and how quickly your tyres will pay for themselves.

To win a iPad, submit your entry by answering the questions - based on LANXESS chairman Axel Heitmann's comments and the App itself - and fill in the form below. You can also download the App for free from app.green-mobility.com.

Axel Heitmann chairman of LANXESS' management board

"Whether you are in Beijing, Mumbai or Rio de Janeiro - mile-long traffic jams are part and parcel of daily life in megacities around the world. Due to increasing urbanization, it is estimated that 1.4bn people will move to cities over the next 20 years. In countries such as China, India and Brazil, cars are becoming increasingly popular, especially among the middle classes - and who can blame them?

However, with the number of drivers and volume of goods being transported by truck expected to increase further, one thing is clear - the mobility of the future will have to be more sustainable and environmentally-friendly than it is today to ensure that increased traffic volumes are not accompanied by a corresponding rise in environmental pollution.

The megatrend toward sustainable mobility is therefore not only key to protecting the environment and climate, it also presents huge opportunities for industry and the economy, especially given that we are currently just at the start of what is perhaps the most radical change in the automotive industry and the mobility sector as a whole.

As the world's largest supplier of synthetic rubbers, LANXESS is committed to green tyres. Around 70% of the high-performance rubbers produced by LANXESS are used to make tyres with low rolling resistance. High-performance rubbers and additives improve the safety, longevity and efficiency of modern tyres, which also helps reduce fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions"
