Its five business units are: DuPont Agriculture and Nutrition, DuPont Coatings and Colour Technologies, DuPont Electronic and Communication Technologies, DuPont Performance Materials, and DuPont Safety and Protection.
DuPont states that it is focussed on its three growth strategies: putting science to work, going where the growth is, and capitalising on the power of “One DuPont”. It has set itself a goal of achieving a 30% improvement in R&D productivity by 2010.
Other actions include increasing cost productivity by standardising and simplifying supply chains and support functions globally and improve its return on capital (ROC) for all businesses. It will accelerate science-based innovation by 30% by prioritising programmes for faster and larger payoffs and continue commercialisation of its $3bn pipeline of bio-based materials.
Headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, US, DuPont operates in more than 70 countries with 60,000 employees and revenues in 2008 of $30.5bn.
