International Flavours & Fragrances (IFF) creates and manufactures a variety of artificial aromas, flavours and fragrances for producers of prepared foods, dairy foods, beverages, confectionary and pharmaceuticals as well as personal care products. IFF is organised into business operations: Fine Fragrance and Beauty Care, Flavours, Functional Fragrances and Fragrance Ingredients.
IFF will focus on its research and development in those areas of flavours and fragrances and associated delivery mechanisms which the company has identified as most likely to drive profitable growth. An essential aspect of the overall research efforts is said to be the company’s leadership in sensory science and consumer insight, enabling the creation of consumer-preferred flavours and fragrances.
A key focus is on the safety and quality of its products for inclusion in its customers’ end products. In addition, operations and customer service will be improved by various related initiatives.
IFF has 5,300 employees working in 30 countries, and its 2008 net sales were $2.4bn.

Company Structure
International Flavours & Fragrances (IFF) creates and manufactures a variety of artificial aromas, flavours and fragrances. IFF began in 1929 when Dutch immigrant and perfumer, A L van Ameringen, and William Haebler formed a fragrance company, van Ameringen-Haebler, in New York, US. In 1958, it merged with Polak & Schwartz to form IFF. Today, the van Ameringen family still controls about 20% of IFF.
