JSR Corporation | Company Information from ICIS

Japan Synthetic Rubber (JSR) is a manufacture of synthetic rubbers and elastomers, emulsions, plastics and fine chemicals.

JSR’s elastomers business manufactures synthetic rubbers for both automotive and non-automotive applications. Its emulsions unit produces latexes for the paper and carpet manufacturing industries. JSR’s plastics are used in automotive, electrical appliance and office equipment. Its fine chemicals have applications in semiconductors, displays and optical materials.

JSR will launch several new products along with its environment and energy and healthcare-related businesses. Cost reduction will remain a priority for JSR and its goal is to use technological innovation to increase earnings across the entire company and establish a more “powerful” operating framework.

Other focuses include sustaining strong growth by leveraging the foundation for growth that it has already put in place during the previous medium-term business plan. JSR is also laying the groundwork for a new phase of growth in order to achieve a big jump during the next medium-term business plan.

Looking ahead, JSR envisions an organisation with activities that extend well beyond its existing materials and technologies by adding precision processing technology and frontier materials. In particular, it intends to create special markets by targeting opportunities associated with the information electronics materials business.

JSR is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, with around 5,256 employees and sales of Yen352.5bn in the financial year ended 31 March 2009.
