Company Intelligence: Polimeri Europa

Polimeri Europa | Strategy and Financial Highlights Information from ICIS

(Edited from: Website 2007 and Eni's 2006-2008 petrochemical segment plan)

Polimeri Europa is changing its approach, at present it is fundamentally Europe-orientated, to marketing on a global scale, reinforcing its competitiveness after a series of mergers aimed at optimising and developing its business. The company hopes to remain on the move, constantly evolving and setting new, more functional standards - whilst all the time maintaining its usual commitments to the customer, the environment and quality. The focus will be to pursue the further rationalisation of this sector.

Polimeri Europa is the result of a 'focusing process' where it claims its strength lies in the integration from raw materials to production plants, from research laboratories to technology up to the interface with the market that it says can be regarded as a single supplier with finding solutions, not only in terms of products, but of services, support and innovation.

Polimeri Europa's research, centred on its basic chemicals, polyethylene, styrenics and elastomers businesses, has the following main aims:

  • the perfection of new high-performance product lines;
  • the development of innovative processes;
  • the strengthening of proprietary technologies, particularly in the most innovative areas;
  • the definition of solutions aimed at limiting the environmental impact of existing products and production processes.

In order to attain these objectives, Polimeri Europa makes use of a team of about 700 researchers and technologists distributed in the research centres situated in its main production plants (Mantua, Ferrara, Ravenna, Porto Marghera), in the research and application development centre at San Donato Milanese, and at the Istituto Guido Donegani in Novara.

The research centres are structures highly specialized in the different business sectors, dedicated to improving processes and creating innovative products according to the requirements of the market.

Besides its own research structures, Polimeri Europa also counts on a wide-ranging network of contacts as well as co-operation with important university research laboratories both in Italy and abroad.
