The main aim for Shin-Etsu is to “assure sustainable future growth”. It will make major investments to support business expansion over the medium to long term. The company will strengthen its existing businesses and develop and commercialise new businesses in order to generate growth.

Shin-Etsu is further improving its position as the “world’s largest” manufacturer of semiconductor silicon wafers with expansion of capacity at its Shirakawa plant in Japan. In addition, the company is adding to multiple production bases by investing in integrated production facilities in the US to assure supply.

Research and development (R&D) will remain a driving force for Shin-Etsu. The group will also focus on maintaining and improving its financial underpinnings.

In the fiscal year ended March 2009, Shin-Etsu had net sales of Y1,201bn and employed just over 19,000 people with headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.
