Takeda is a Japanese research-based company with its main focus on pharmaceuticals. Its key drugs are used in the treatment of peptic ulcers, prostate cancer and endometriosis, diabetes and hypertension. In Japan, Takeda has also built a strong presence in the over-the-counter (OTC) drug market.

Takeda’s management plan includes the enhancement of its capability to create new drugs through in-house R&D activities. It will also invest in in-licensing and alliance activities as supportive measures.
Takeda will conduct business operations with increased efficiency and consistency on a group-wide level. The company will solidify its marketing structure in three regions (Japan, US and Europe), and will conduct self sustaining and appropriate operations for respective markets.
Takeda will continue conducting strategic investments to enhance its R&D pipeline and improving its business infrastructure both in Japan and overseas as this will enable sustainable growth.
Headquartered in Osaka, Japan, Takeda has 15,700 employees and sales of Y1,538bn in the fiscal year to 31 March 2009.
