Price and market trends: Europe PE spot prices surge as producers sell allocations

The European polyethylene (PE) market has turned quickly, with spot prices surging as producers withdraw offers, sources said on 12 February.

Several producers have even sold all their allocation, sources added. “They [producers] say they have sold out, but they are offering material at higher prices,” said one buyer. Some PE producers closed order books for February the previous week, but at least one has subsequently returned to the market with higher prices.
