Post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles in the Europe recycled polyethylene terephthalate (R-PET) market were in tight supply at the start of quarter two. This initially placed upward pressure on pricing for the product as a result. Lower availability eventually lengthened with warmer weather as is typical. Colourless R-PET flakes were lacking in quantity in the meantime with some talk of tightness for mixed coloured grade as well.
Europe colourless recycled polyethylene terephthalate (R-PET) flake demand was high throughout quarter two. Mixed coloured R-PET flake prices were under upward pressure in this period too as consumption strengthened as time passed. This represented a shift from prior dynamics for mixed coloured product. Food grade R-PET pellets price talks were affected by a sustainability drive in Europe, which led consumers to commit to more R-PET content in their contracts.
