Consultation

ICIS is implementing a process of rolling consultation on all of its pricing methodologies. This consultation paper is part of this formal process and covers all of the ICIS primary price points included in the glycerine weekly publications.

The consultation asks both general questions about the suitability of the ICIS pricing methodology and questions addressing specific glycerine market issues.

ICIS Summary and Decision

Following the consultation there was one response. The respondent wanted to see clarification in the Glycerine methodology of whether the US FOB price assessments are prices to traders, or to end-consumers. The preference was to end-consumers.

There was also a request to consider reinstating US delivered prices, recognising disparities of freight costs to different destinations.

The respondent was against the removal of the US pharmaceutical assessment, and in favour of the addition of the Argentina and Brazil assessments.

ICIS will not be proposing any immediate changes to the methodology of the Glycerine reports, but will review these suggestions for the US report. Any decision to change this methodology will be communicated to subscribers using the usual channels and with the usual notice period.

ICIS continues to welcome any feedback on its Glycerine methodology outside of the formal consultation process. To provide further comments or feedback please contact Barbara Ortner, Head of Market Reporting: Barbara.Ortner@icis.com
