Consultation

ICIS is implementing a process of rolling consultation on all of its methodologies. This consultation paper is part of this formal process and covers all of the ICIS primary price points included in the epichlorohydrin weekly publications.

The consultation asked both general questions about the suitability of the ICIS methodology and questions addressing specific epichlorohydrin market issues.

ICIS Decision

There were two formal responses to consultation GMC 23/14, both confidential.

The first response was regarding the Asia report, and suggested replacing the CFR China Main Port assessment with a composite Asia price, because of illiquidity in the China import market.

The second response proposed increasing the commentary of the report; ensuring that monthly contract prices are not confused with longer term prices; ensuring that rebates are not double counted; ensuring that ICIS-based formulae are not included in the price discovery process.

All the above suggestions have been shared with the epichlorohydrin editors and will be taken into account in future reporting.

ICIS will not be proposing any immediate changes to the methodology of the Epichlorohydrin report. Any decision to change this methodology will be communicated to subscribers using the usual channels and with the usual notice period.

ICIS continues to welcome any feedback on its Epichlorohydrin methodology outside of the formal consultation process.
