ICIS is implementing a process of rolling consultation on all of its pricing methodologies. Consultation paper GMC08/19 is part of this formal process and covers all of the ICIS primary price points included in the polyethylene weekly publications. Polyethylene-Methodology-Consultation-2019
Summary and Decision
The consultation asked general questions about the suitability of the ICIS pricing methodology.
ICIS received two responses.
One was a question about how ICIS incorporates information received in the last week of the month.
The second respondent requested more information in each weekly report on the mix of sources polled, and when editorial judgment has been used. Also clarity on the change in spot prices versus the previous month and current duties.
ICIS will survey market sources about the practicality of including this additional information.
ICIS will not be proposing any immediate changes to the methodology of the polyethylene reports. Any decision to change this methodology will be communicated to subscribers using the usual channels and with the usual notice period.
ICIS continues to welcome any feedback on its polyethylene methodology outside of the formal consultation process.
