Free infographic: Flow-based market coupling was introduced to power markets in central western Europe on 21 May 2015

A new method for calculating cross-border capacity on a day ahead basis in the power markets in central western Europe was introduced on 21 May.

The new methodology, called flow-based market coupling, was expected to maximise the efficiency of the interconnectors linking Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands, reducing the price difference between the markets.

This infographic shows the prices of electricity for delivery in June in the relevant countries the day before flow-based market coupling was introduced according to ICIS assessments.
