Fundamentals: Rough surplus boosts Dutch H-gas exports to Germany

Dutch high-calorific natural gas (H-gas) exports to Germany are on course to hit more than a two-year high in July and forward prices suggest strong flows will persist through August as well.

At its current pace, Dutch H-gas exports to Germany are set to exceed 800 million cubic metres in July, which would be the greatest net volume shipped since 931mcm in February 2015.

ICIS looks at the key structural drivers behind this change in flow patterns and the likelihood of whether the trend will continue.
