Infographic: Caustic soda Q4 contract price changes vs shutdowns - Oct 2015

The caustic soda market is balanced across most of Europe, but planned and unplanned shutdowns have created local tightness in some specific markets.

This has led to higher Q4 contract price increases in some countries. NWE has been impacted by the shutdown season for US caustic soda producers in October, which has contributed to higher exports and spot prices.

Availability in the caustic soda market is also affected by chlorine demand, particularly PVC production. PVC and caustic production falls in Q4, which has contributed to the price rises.
