Late summer demand drives spot LNG prices higher

LNG spot prices across East Asia, the Middle East, India and South America all rose for the third month running as marginal demand outweighed supply.

Prices were boosted by events in the summer hemisphere, with Argentina’s state-run buyer floating a number of global tenders, while Chilean demand shot up due to cold temperatures and a lack of rainfall.

ICIS summarises the past month’s key events in the LNG markets and assesses what they could mean for European gas markets in the coming weeks.
