Polyolefins Market Outlook 2017

Polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) buyers are still coming to terms with the exceptional situation of 2015, and are wary of a series of planned maintenance closures this year that could affect supply. The weak euro, leading to fewer imports but stronger exports, is also something they need to come to assess when looking at 2017 as a whole. The monomer/polymer spread has fallen since the middle of 2016, for both PE and PP, but it remains much higher than when it began to surge, at the end of 2014.

Take a look at the ICIS PE and PP Outlook for the key topics of the year, including an infographic on the notable cracker turnarounds in Europe and the new capacity coming onstream in the US.
