It has been a couple of tempestuous years for the European propylene market. A tight market in the first half of 2015 due to a string of production fails left European derivatives poorly-placed in the global arena and subsequently demand reduced and supply lengthened considerably. By 2016, planned and unplanned cracker and refinery issues - not least the French strikes – soon led to a tight market again – enough to leave some demand unfulfilled, despite derivatives’ export possibilities improving.
