Quality conversion soars as Groningen gas output slumps

Heavy restrictions on low-calorific natural gas production from Groningen in the Netherlands – Europe’s biggest gas field – has boosted high-calorific natural gas demand in 2015. This is because high-calorific gas can be converted to the low-calorific grid when it is blended with nitrogen in a process known as quality conversion.
