Turkey 2016 so far: polymer imports and economic review

Turkey has had a very turbulent time over the last 12 months, facing political and economic uncertainty, increasingly numerous and deadly terrorist attacks from both within and without, and an attempted coup to unseat President Recep, Tayyip Erdogan and remove the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) from power.

Yet the country carries on – its 2015 GDP level was above those of Germany, the US and Saudi Arabia – and the polymer imports keep flowing. But it still faces challenges from an unstable economy, a weak lira and drops in key areas such as tourism, all of which and more make the outlook for Turkey still very uncertain.
