Updated to Q1 2021
Supply is anticipated to remain tight for at least part of Q1, as production remains constrained by a force majeure at the Borealis plant in Finland, while other domestic producers are attempting to rebuild inventory after maintenance in Q4 2020. Supply from Asian and US producers is also facing limitations, which may further constrain availability in Europe in the near term.
A strong start to 2021 is expected with increased demand due to limited availability of imported downstream products, as well as healthy demand for exports to the Americas and Asia, where production issues have tightened the market. A continuation of post-pandemic recovery in the construction and automotive sectors is expected in 2021, which should lift consumption of downstream products such as BPA and MMA.
