From pricing information to the analysis you need to understand it, ICIS coverage of regional Acetone markets is second to none.
Updated to Q2 2021
The market will remain tight for 1H Q2 given turnarounds in April and May. 2H Q2 is expected to remain balanced to tight depending on global trade flows, but also on upstream operating rates and feedstock availability given ongoing refinery limitations during lockdowns. Much will depend on how quickly producers return from planned turnarounds. The Suez Canal blockage is expected to have a minimal impact in Q2.
Demand should be strong in Q2, with many downstream sectors seeing a seasonal improvement. There are some concerns about the impact of lockdowns on demand although offtake into construction still appears strong due to home improvement projects. It remains to be seen if the high price for some commodities will price out downstream customers and therefore impact on supply chains. Roehm’s plant in Wesseling, Germany, will undergo a planned shutdown in May.
