Updated to Q3 2018
PMDI prices in the GCC and the Middle East witnessed a similar trend to TDI as supply also remained ample through Q2. Key producers in Asia were actively offering but the increased supply, soft demand and declines in Asia also weighed on PMDI in the Middle East. Supply increased further after the Eid ul-Fitr holidays in mid-June.
Demand in the GCC and the broader Middle East region showed little improvement in Q3 as prices remained relatively firm for most major buyers. The ample supply conditions also supported views of a longer-term decline in prices and buyers were content to sit on sidelines, waiting for more favourable levels.
Updated to Q3 2018
TDI in the GCC and the broader Middle East region have been facing ample supply conditions through Q3 and prices have been on a slow downtrend. Supply was sufficient despite some minor disruptions and received a further boost after the restart of BASF’s Ludwigshafen plant in Germany.
TDI demand in the GCC and the broader Middle East region started a typically strong demand season in Q3 but supply remained long. Many TDI buyers however were heard to still be holding out for further declines in prices despite inventories possibly running low. Many buyers also eyeing increased supply from Europe and the Middle East to further weigh on prices going forward.
