Updated to Q2 2021
Supply in northeast Asia is expected to tighten in April and May as plant turnarounds are scheduled to take place. In South Korea, Hanwha Solutions is scheduled to shut its plant in May for about four weeks. Aekyung is scheduled to shut one line in early April for a catalyst change. In Taiwan, Nan Ya is scheduled to shut two lines in mid-April for about a month and one line may also undergo a catalyst change.
Demand in Q2 is not expected to see much changes and buying activities are expected to be influenced by supply conditions. With supply from Taiwan and South Korea expected to be tight, buyers could eye the Chinese market. However, as Chinese exports are typically dependent on the domestic market situation, there could be some keen buying interest in late April and May, should there be insufficient Chinese spot supply then.
